There’s something truly magical about the second birthday stage. They’re not babies anymore, but not quite big kids either. Every expression feels new full of curiosity, determination, pride. Photographing this milestone is one of my favorite parts of being a Swansboro milestone photographer.
In the studio, we let toddlers lead. Sometimes that means dancing, sometimes it means snacks between giggles. The goal isn’t to get them to sit still, it’s to capture who they are right now. These sessions are simple, warm, and full of personality. We might incorporate a small cake, a favorite toy, or a sweet family moment. The focus is always on emotion and connection because these are the things you’ll want to remember long after they’ve outgrown your lap.
There’s such beauty in the simplicity of a milestone session. It’s not about perfection, it’s about presence. Before you know it, they’ll be heading off to school, and this version of them will only live in your memories and your artwork.
