Easter is such a fun time to capture your little one’s joy and curiosity. From tiny bunny ears to pastel-colored outfits, springtime photos can be some of the sweetest memories to look back on. But let’s be real—getting young children to cooperate for photos can feel like herding baby chicks! If you’re worried about your child not sitting still or being camera-shy, don’t stress. I’ve got plenty of tricks to make your child’s Easter session relaxed, fun, and full of genuine smiles!
Young children have short attention spans, so instead of forcing stiff poses, I keep the session playful. Whether it’s letting them explore props, giving them something to hold, or playing peek-a-boo behind the camera, I create an environment where they feel comfortable being themselves. The best photos happen when kids are simply having fun!
If your child has a beloved stuffed animal, blanket, or small toy, bring it along! Not only can it help them feel secure in a new environment, but it can also be incorporated into the photos. A cuddly bunny or soft lovey makes for an adorable Easter-themed touch while keeping your little one happy.
I know, those frilly Easter dresses and tiny bow ties are irresistible, but if your child is uncomfortable, it’ll show in the photos. Choose soft, breathable outfits they can move around in. If you’re set on a fancier look, bring a backup outfit that’s a little more relaxed—just in case! Schedule your session when your child is well-rested and fed. A happy, full-bellied toddler is much more likely to engage than one who’s running on empty. If nap time is at 2 PM, let’s aim for a morning or early evening session when they’re feeling their best.
The best photos are often the unplanned ones. That mischievous grin, the way they clutch their Easter basket, or their little fingers reaching out to touch a flower—these are the moments you’ll cherish. My goal is to capture your child’s personality, whether they’re giggling, shyly peeking from behind mom, or sitting proudly in their Easter best.
Kids don’t have long attention spans, and that’s okay! As a parent of a child with Autism, my Easter sessions are designed to be quick and engaging while capturing beautiful moments before they get tired or fussy. I move at their pace, keeping the experience lighthearted and enjoyable. We incorporate sensory play where needed and in a controlled environment, distractions are low. Little ones pick up on stress, so the more relaxed you are, the more at ease they’ll be. Don’t worry if your child isn’t smiling on cue—we’ll get those natural moments that truly reflect their personality. Sometimes, the in-between moments—those soft, thoughtful expressions—end up being the most treasured.
The blooming of spring is such a sweet time, and I want to help you capture it in a way that feels effortless and fun. With a little patience, playfulness, and a stress-free approach, we’ll create beautiful portraits that you’ll love for years to come. Ready to book your child’s Easter session?
